For crew

Find an assignment that fits your experience

ICC helps crew professionals find assignments suited to their qualifications, experience and availability. We support the process from the first conversation through documentation and practical coordination.

Crew roles we support

The role must match the candidate’s qualifications, experience and the vessel’s operating requirements.

  • Boatmaster
  • Helmsman
  • Able Boatman
  • Boatman
  • Apprentice
  • Deckhand
  • Engineer and mechanic

Additional authorisations

We review relevant authorisations for radar navigation, stretches with specific risks, waterways with a maritime character and large convoys, as well as ADN certification where required.

We match each role to the qualifications and authorisations required for the vessel and route.

Clear terms for each working arrangement

Self-employed and employed arrangements involve different responsibilities. We discuss the proposed arrangement and relevant terms before the assignment; a website profile does not determine your employment status.

Self-employed crew professionals

  • For a self-employed assignment, the agreed services, commercial terms, responsibilities and invoicing arrangements are set out in the relevant agreement.
  • We discuss the proposed assignment and terms with you before an agreement is confirmed.
  • Keep your coordinator informed of your availability and any changes.

Employed crew members

  • For an employed arrangement, the employer, employment terms, planning and administrative responsibilities are identified in the applicable documents.
  • Planning, leave and any changes are coordinated under the applicable employment arrangements.

The relevant documents identify the working arrangement and responsible company. Being part of ICC’s crew network does not in itself mean employment by InlandCrew Connect.

From first contact to an assignment

The process starts with a conversation about your qualifications, experience and preferences.

  1. Discuss your experience

Tell us your qualifications, preferred role, vessel types, sailing area, rotation and availability.

We consider the role, vessel type, sailing area, rotation and time you can spend on board. This helps us assess which opportunities may suit you; it does not guarantee an assignment.

  2. Review the requirements

We assess your documents against a suitable assignment and explain any missing information.

We explain the documents and information required for a proposed role. For questions about the development of MyCrewBook, contact InlandCrew Canarias S.L.

  3. Documents

We explain which qualifications, certificates and additional authorisations are relevant to the proposed assignment.

We check the documents supplied for the assignment, including their validity and any information that needs clarification.

  4. Discuss an assignment

We discuss the vessel, role, period, working arrangement and terms before the assignment is confirmed.

We confirm the vessel, role, period, terms and practical arrangements with you. Contact your coordinator if any details are unclear before the assignment begins.

Documents relevant to your role

The required documents depend on the role, vessel and sailing area. ICC reviews what is available and coordinates the follow-up.

  1. Establish the requirements

We explain which qualifications, certificates and additional authorisations are relevant to the proposed assignment.

  2. Review your documents

We check the documents supplied for the assignment, including their validity and any information that needs clarification.

  3. Follow up on gaps

If a document or qualification is missing, we discuss the next steps before confirming suitability for the role.

  4. Keep information current

Tell us about renewed certificates or changes to your qualifications and availability so that planning uses current information.

Frequently asked questions

How do I start?
Contact ICC with your role, qualifications, experience and availability. We first discuss which assignments may be suitable and what documents are required.
Who organises travel?
Travel and boarding arrangements are coordinated according to the assignment. We confirm the location, timing and agreed responsibilities before departure.
What if I am missing a certificate?
We explain the requirement for the proposed role and discuss the necessary follow-up. A missing qualification may prevent that assignment until the requirement is met.

Contact the coordinator identified for your assignment. For general operations and crew questions, contact InlandCrew Connect sp. z o.o. in Poland.
What if a proposed assignment does not suit me?

Where can I obtain assignment documents?
Ask your coordinator for the confirmation and documents relating to your assignment. The relevant agreement identifies the responsible ICC company.
Who do I contact about rates or working arrangements?
Discuss these questions with your ICC coordinator. The applicable rate, services and working arrangement are recorded in the relevant agreement.
