For shipowners and fleet operators

Crewing solutions for shipowners

From short-term relief to long-term rotation planning, ICC supports the recruitment and coordination of crew for European inland shipping. We assess the role, vessel, route and practical requirements of each assignment.

Relief crew and long-term crewing

A temporary absence and an ongoing crewing requirement call for different planning. We agree the scope around your vessel and operating schedule.

Short-term relief crew

Common situations

  • Leave
  • Illness
  • A sudden departure from the vessel
  • A gap in the rotation
  • One person short of the minimum crew

For illness, leave or unexpected crew shortages, we aim to arrange a suitable replacement as quickly as possible. Timing depends on qualifications, availability, location and travel arrangements.

Each relief request is assessed against the vessel, role and travel requirements.

Long-term crewing and rotations

Service scope

  • Regular rotations
  • Long-term crewing for individual vessels
  • Crewing across a fleet

We help plan regular crew changes for individual vessels or fleets and build a reliable pool of crew members suited to the vessel, role and rotation schedule.

The crew pool is coordinated around your rotation schedule and changing availability.

We establish the vessel’s location, the missing role, the dates and the route-specific requirements.

  2. Identify the required role and qualifications

We consider the role, minimum crew, vessel and route, including ADN requirements where applicable.

  3. Search for available candidates

We search our crew network and work with crew professionals and suppliers to assess suitable options.

  4. Review documents and authorisations

We review experience, qualifications, document validity and the practical travel options.

  5. Agree the replacement

We discuss the candidate, timing, services and costs with you before confirming the arrangements.

  6. Coordinate the crew change

We coordinate the agreed documentation, travel and boarding details with the vessel and crew.

  7. Confirm the boarding arrangements

We confirm the boarding time and location once the candidate, documentation and travel arrangements have been agreed.

Our aim is to reduce disruption through practical recruitment, planning and crew-change coordination.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about recruitment, assignments and MyCrewBook. Contact us if you would like to discuss a specific requirement.

How quickly can you arrange relief crew?
For illness, leave or unexpected crew shortages, we aim to arrange a suitable replacement as quickly as possible. Timing depends on qualifications, availability, location and travel arrangements.
What if a crew member has to leave early?
We confirm the vessel’s requirements, assess available candidates and discuss a replacement with you. We then coordinate the agreed documentation, travel and boarding arrangements.
How do you assess a candidate?
We review the candidate’s experience, qualifications, certificates and additional authorisations against the role, vessel and sailing area. Availability and practical travel arrangements are also part of the assessment.
Which waterways do you cover?
Our focus is European inland shipping, particularly the Rhine system and Western Europe. Tell us your route so that we can assess the relevant qualifications and availability.
Do you recruit for tankers?
Yes. We review the qualifications and dangerous-goods requirements relevant to the role and vessel, including ADN certification where required.
Which company contracts and invoices?
The agreement identifies the responsible ICC company: InlandCrew Connect sp. z o.o. or InlandCrew Canarias S.L. Invoicing follows the agreed services and costs. Responsibilities for employment administration, insurance and payments depend on the arrangement.
Do I need MyCrewBook to contact ICC?
No. You can discuss a crewing requirement by telephone or email. MyCrewBook is currently under development.
When will MyCrewBook be available?
MyCrewBook is currently under development. Access and functionality will be introduced gradually.
How are invoices provided?
The contracting ICC company provides the invoice for the agreed services and costs. Contact the company shown on the invoice if you have questions about a charge or payment status.
How do you handle a gap in the rotation?
Tell your coordinator about the gap as early as possible, including the role and dates. We assess suitable candidates and practical options with you. Availability cannot be guaranteed.
How can I update company or vessel information?
Send the changes to your ICC contact. For questions about the development of MyCrewBook, contact InlandCrew Canarias S.L.
